How to create virtuozzo os template

Under Virtuozzo environment OS templates are used to create new Containers with a pre-installed operating system.

To create new OS templates you can refer to following steps.

Say you wish to install debian-5.0-x86_64 OS template.


SSH to hardware node as root.
1) Downloading template.
debian-5.0-x86_64 Os template can be found on URL: Parallels Virtuozzo Containers Templates


# cd /usr/local/src/

# wget

# wget

# wget

2) Installing rpm for template

# rpm -ivh debian-5.0-x86_64-ez-4.0.0-3.swsoft.noarch.rpm
# rpm -ivh devel-debian-5.0-x86_64-ez-4.0.0-2.swsoft.noarch.rpm
# rpm -ivh mod_perl-debian-5.0-x86_64-ez-4.0.0-1.swsoft.noarch.rpm

3) To check that the template has been successfully installed, use the vzpkg list command

# vzpkg list | grep debian-5.0-x86_64

4) However, before you can start using the installed OS template for the Container creation, you should create cache for it.

# vzpkg create cache debian-5.0-x86_64

NOTE: Create cache process may take approximate 30 minutes so do not stop this process in between.

Once this process is finished you will find template create under directory /vz/template/cache/ with name debian-5.0-x86_64.tar.gz
